A Celebration of Stories

dalmatian duck: a celebration of stories

Dorothy C. Ramsaier (October 26, 1921 - July 22, 2014)

Born in NYC, NY to the late Edward and Anna (Leggett) Cunningham, Aunt Dot treated everyone like family no matter who you were because of her innate ability to love unconditionally. She was an educator to her family members in the pursuit of healthy more conscious lifestyles not only for themselves but for the benefit of humanity as a whole. She gave a voice to the voiceless. She was a visionary in it's purest form and dedicated her life to creating awareness for animal and human rights. She was an inspiration to whomever she met because of her undeniable selfless nature. Her devotion to her family, friends and animals, always left us all feeling so loved and enlightened. Until her last breath, she shined bright, a tender kindness that only if you met her could you understand. Aunt Dot, thank you for the countless gems of wisdom you shared with us. We will remember you forever. "Believe it or not, I'm walking on Airrrrr."

Epitaph

Poetry & Prose

I wanted to share the words she wrote 25 years before her death, to celebrate a life that was example to us all. Also, to remind us that it does not take wealth to show that we care and that we are all here to work hard with each other to wipe out the pain and suffering for all beings.
– Stephan, Dot’s Great Nephew

When all of my life has come to pass,
and I have gone to rest at last.

Mark not my grave with lovely flowers
but ponder instead on well-spent hours.

It take not wealth to show you care,
but prove it, you can, as though I were there.

Work hard to wipe out all suffering and pain.
For which mankind must bear the stain.

All God’s creatures deserve to have peace
and from torture and torment to find release.

To this end, I do fervently pray
and have continued it thus ’til my dying day.
